As a director and director of photography, I have always believed that the visual component of a work of art must be uncompromising, bold, innovative, and aesthetically pure. And it was precisely the discovery of new photographic approaches that also encompass the invisible spectrum that opened up a new dimension for me. Shortly after, I became an ambassador for the American company Kolari Vision, which deals with camera modifications for recording in the infrared and ultraviolet spectrum.
The filming of the video for the band Siddharta had its own prehistory and quite a winding path. I presented the first conceptual sketches to the band last spring, and they gave the green light without hesitation. A long testing process followed, a new medium also requires a new approach, new thinking. Countless hours are with me patiently survived by the director of photography Darko Herič, with whom we delved into every detail of light, contrast and material.
When we were finally ready in the summer of 2024, nature said otherwise, too hot for the costumes, too strong a sun, the dancers exhausted after the first day. We moved the filming to rainy September, where we waited for the sun, which did not and did not exist. In the meantime, we shot another video "Peace" as an intermediate creative break. Also using a special technique, this time with UV light.
And this year, before the summer temperatures tightened the conditions again, we returned to the basic idea, a story about relationships. The kind that start with a spark, continue with silence and often fall apart due to misunderstanding. I wanted to point out that in relationships we often think too fast, feel too slow and communicate too little. That sometimes we do not distinguish play from seriousness. And that there is a thin line between courtship and conflict. But if what can save things is love.
The first idea was to make a sequel to the hit Platina in animated form. But when I presented them with the concept and the first tests, we quickly knew: we had to do this "for real". Camera. Dancers. Body. Light. Rhythm.
Why dancers? Because I wanted stylized movement, not typical choreography. Dance was not the goal, but language. Body movement as a relationship between words.
And why pink? Because it's my color. Soft. Bold. Overlooked. And just the right amount of bounce to remind you that you don't always have to be serious to say something important.
With this video I honestly surprised myself. Which is not very often. I'm not a person who easily congratulates myself, I always see what could be better. But this time I feel that we captured something special. Something that goes beyond aesthetics. And for that I'm grateful to the entire team who believed in this vision.
Since Darko Herič was busy filming the series, Vladan Janković took over as director of photography, who had to repeat all the tests with me and convince himself of everything that Darko and I had already tried.

"Ko infra-rdeča postane srčna zgodba
Kot režiser in direktor fotografije sem vedno gradil na tem, da mora biti vizualna komponenta umetniškega dela brezkompromisna, drzna, inovativna, estetsko izčiščena. In ravno odkritje novih fotografskih pristopov, ki zajemajo tudi nevidni spekter, mi je odprlo novo dimenzijo. Kmalu zatem sem postal ambasador ameriškega podjetja Kolari Vision, ki se ukvarja z modifikacijami kamer za snemanje v infrardečem in ultravijoličnem spektru.
Snemanje videospota za skupino Siddharta je imelo torej svojo predzgodbo in precej zavitih poti. Prve idejne skice sem bandu predstavil že spomladi lani, oni pa so brez oklevanja dali zeleno luč. Sledil je dolg proces testiranj, nov medij zahteva tudi nov pristop, novo razmišljanje. Ob meni je nešteto ur z mano potrpežljivo preživel direktor fotografije Darko Herič, s katerim sva se poglobila v vsak detajl svetlobe, kontrasta in materiala.
Ko smo bili poleti 2024 končno pripravljeni, je narava rekla drugače, prevroče za kostume, premočno sonce, plesalci izžeti že po prvem dnevu. Snemanje smo premaknili na deževni september, kjer smo pa čakali na sonce, ki ga ni in ni bilo. Vmes pa smo posneli še en spot "Mir" kot vmesni ustvarjalni odmik. Tudi tisti v posebni tehniki, tokrat z UV-svetlobo.
In letos, preden so poletne temperature znova zaostrile pogoje, smo se vrnili na osnovno idejo, zgodbo o odnosih. Takih, ki se začnejo z iskrico, nadaljujejo s tišino in pogosto razpadejo zaradi nerazumevanja. Želel sem opozoriti, da v razmerjih pogosto prehitro mislimo, prepočasi čutimo in premalo komuniciramo. Da včasih ne ločimo igre od resnosti. In da je tanka meja med dvorjenjem in konfliktom. A če kaj lahko reši stvari je to ljubezen.
Prva ideja je bila, da bi naredili nadaljevanje uspešnice Platina v animirani obliki. A ko sem jim predstavil zasnovo in prve teste, smo hitro vedeli: tega se moramo lotiti "zares". Kamera. Plesalci. Telo. Svetloba. Ritem.
Zakaj plesalci? Ker sem želel stilizirano gibanje, ne tipično koreografijo. Ples ni bil cilj, ampak jezik. Gib telesa kot razmerje med besedami.
In zakaj pink? Ker je to moja barva. Mehka. Drzna. Spregledana. In ravno prav odbita, da te spomni, da ni treba vedno biti resen, da bi povedal nekaj pomembnega.
S tem spotom sem iskreno presenetil samega sebe. Kar ni ravno pogosto. Nisem človek, ki bi si zlahka čestital, vedno vidim, kaj bi lahko bilo še bolje. Tokrat pa čutim, da smo ujeli nekaj posebnega. Nekaj, kar presega estetiko. In zato sem hvaležen celotni ekipi, ki je verjela v to vizijo.
Ker je bil Darko Herič zaseden s snemanjem serije, je vlogo direktorja fotografije prevzel Vladan Janković, ki je moral z menoj ponoviti vse teste in se sam prepričati o vsem, kar sva z Darkom že preizkusila.
